STREATOR – A binding ballot question is expected to be posed to Streator residents in the November election. According to city board member, Steve Broadus, a petition was circulated by Streator resident, Larry Thomas to abandon the city manager form of government. Thomas’ petition was approved by Circuit Judge Troy Holland, meeting the required number of signatures. Broadus, who advocates for a city manager form of government says adding fiscal responsibilities to a nonpartisan party, like a city manager, protects local taxpayers from possible misdeeds of a city government. The petition will go to election officials, where its expected to be placed on the November ballot.
