Pursuit that began in Marshall County ends in crash near Utica

UTICA – A vehicle pursuit Saturday night that began in Marshall County ended in a crash near Utica. According to Marshall County Sheriff Rob Russell, they initiated the stop after the driver was spotted reportedly speeding and improper passing. The driver allegedly fled, and the vehicle pursuit began.

For safety reasons, they stopped the pursuit and Wenona Police intercepted the suspect. That chase continued with LaSalle County Sheriff’s pursuing the vehicle onto Illinois Route 71 in the curves near Starved Rock State Park, where it crashed around 9:15 p.m. One person was seriously injured in the crash and airlifted via helicopter from the scene. The identity of the injured person was not released and any pending charges are expected to be announced by the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office.
