OTTAWA – While State unemployment rates remained fairly steady the past few months, county unemployment rates continue to increase according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security. Currently unemployment statewide is at 4.1 percent, just a tenth of a percent decrease compared to last month. However, county unemployment rates continue to scale higher compared to past months, with LaSalle taking the lead at 5.6 percent, a half of a percent increase. Putnam and Bureau county still remain the lowest unemployment rates locally at 4.9 percent, just three tenths of a percent increase compared to last month.
