UTICA – Utica’s upcoming roundabout is said to create improvement and user benefits. According to an online study by the Illinois Department of Transportation, the proposed roundabout for the intersection of U.S 6 and Route 178 will improve drainage, lighting and includes an apron for large trucks. IDOT says the roundabout is anticipated to reduce injury and match or exceed the vehicle capacity of comparable traffic signal installations. There will be no road closures as construction will be done in phases. Currently IDOT is in the first of three phases.
