OTTAWA – Beginning July, the Environmental Protection Agency will start cleanup activities on an area of the Ottawa Radiation Superfund site. The EPA says workers will be removing contaminated soil from the NPL-8 Frontage Property to reduce the risk of exposure to people who have access to the location and moving the waste to the fenced NPL-8 Landfill. After contaminated soil is removed, the area of the landfill will be capped to prevent exposure to the public and the environment. EPA says they expect work to continue into fall.
