OTTAWA – LaSalle County’s Farm Bureau President David Isermann is hoping J.B. Pritzker’s request for an agricultural disaster declaration is approved. The Governor has issued several state disaster declarations, one involving the Federal Emergency Management Agency where counties and townships can add up how much damages have cost them for some compensation. Isermann says this declaration would help farmers repair roads and drainage ditches. The agriculture disaster declaration would allow access to low interest loans that would help farmers get through another year. While there are no guarantees, if the declaration is passed, Isermann says there’s an opportunity for extra money allocated for disaster relief. He says if Illinois is not an agricultural disaster, he doesn’t know what is.
