LAS VEGAS – An Ottawa man received an award for excellence for his reporting of the first full-time news reporter to wear a traditional Muslim head scarf on air. The Voice of America’s Midwest correspondent, Kane Farabaugh, received the award for excellence at the Religion News Association’s 70th annual awards banquet on Saturday in Las Vegas. Farabaugh received first place in the TV National Network/Cable News category for his report, Tahera’s American Hijab, an account of Tahera Rahman, a Quad-Cities reporter who wears a traditional Muslim Hijab on air.
