MENDOTA- The overtime is piling up and the Fire Department in Mendota is stretched thin. That’s according to members of the department and the Mendota City Council who met Thursday afternoon to try to find solutions to being understaffed. Options discussed were bringing in a private ambulance service, hiring up to three new full time employees, and scheduling part time employees to work full overnight shifts. Chief Dennis Rutishauser said that at one time the goal was to have 12 full time employees, but right now they only have 4.
