MENDOTA- The crowd was supportive Sunday at Strouss Park in Mendota as the striking District 289 teachers and more gathered near a hay rack to hear speeches. Talks on Saturday between the school board and the union broke down again before both sides could agree on the next meeting location. Classes at Blackstone, Lincoln, and Northbrook were not in session Monday. The next opportunity for a meeting was speculated by some to be Wednesday, a week after the strike began.
