New bison coming to Buffalo Rock State Park

 
OTTAWA – Buffalo Rock State Park could be getting a friend for Pebbles the bison this week. After Pebbles mother Holly was euthanized due to a serious illness in September, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources has been working to get an additional bison at Buffalo Rock to serve as a companion to 14-year-old Pebbles. Site Superintendent Daniel Bell says they are currently working with the United States Department of Forest Service to obtain a 2-year-old female bison from the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie near Wilmington, hopefully by Wednesday.
