PERU – A Peru man was seriously injured and taken to Peoria after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night. Peru police say around 7 PM they were called to 4th Street and Pike for a report of a pedestrian injured in a traffic crash. Authorities found six juveniles from Depue in a vehicle that allegedly struck the 62-year-old victim. The man was taken to IVCH before being transferred to a trauma center in Peoria. Peru police say alcohol or drugs did not play a part in the incident. The driver of the vehicle was cited for a number of infractions, including a graduated license violation and having unlawful number of passengers. In the press release they indicate that the juveniles had all left a high school dance prior to the incident.
