Oglesby approves state of emergency ordinance, postponed water rate increase

OGLESBY – The city of Oglesby followed other cities in implementing an ordinance pertaining to a local state of emergency. The city passed an ordinance on Monday during their special meeting, which would allow them to take necessary action during a potential state of emergency. If Mayor Dom Rivara declares a state of emergency, it would be active for only seven days or until the next city council meeting. Oglesby council also implemented an emergency policy regarding employee vacation requests and employee staffing. Council scheduled their next council meeting on April 8th in case they need to respond to any further orders by Governor J.B. Pritzker. The city also postponed its water rate increase for 30 days.
