Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for May 4th:
An anonymous donor took it upon myself to donate $1 million to the Dignity Health Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, California.
The donor requested the money not only go to the hospital staff but also the cleaners and custodians, who have been working tirelessly to sanitize surfaces since this pandemic began — and even before that.
“There are so many people who keep the hospital running. Nurses and doctors are getting the praise, but we couldn’t do it without the staff who clean the floors, deliver supplies, fix machines, everything,” Dignity Health Dominican Hospital president Dr. Nanette Mickiewicz said.
Like almost anything in life, a hospital is a team effort. I’ve grown up my entirely life seeing my mother, an RN, operate in various hospitals and doing her best to work alongside numerous nurses to run a stable operation. Seeing contributions like this is heartwarming to say the least.
