Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for May 8th:
A fisherman in Kerry, Ireland has been spending his days in lockdown alone on the water, until recently he happened upon the sight of Fungie the dolphin. Now he makes daily trips just to keep him company.
Fungie is a famous solitary dolphin living off the west Kerry coast. He was first seen in Dingle harbour in 1983, and continues to happen upon human contact over the last 30 years. The locals even built a statue for him.
I’ve found I’ve been spending about an hour or so on my weekends driving around the area, windows down, and music loud just to get some semblance of peace of mind recently. Of course a boat-trip on the coast works too, and I encourage you to read just a smidgen more about the history of Fungie below!
