STREATOR – A dog perished after a house fire Saturday in Streator. The Streator Fire Department say they were called to a home in the 1200 block of Arthur Street around 7 PM, and found a porch on the home engulfed in flames. The owners were not home, but a dog in a kennel was located by firefighters. The dog was removed from the home and CPR was started. Oxygen was given to the dog via a pet mask, but authorities say it passed from smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire was undetermined but not considered suspicious. No injuries were reported.
