8th graders donate end-of-year-trip money to Navajo Nation

Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for June 9th:
Navajo Nation has been rocked by the COVID-19 pandemic, with over 4,000 positive cases since the pandemic began. This prompted 8th graders in New Mexico to gather the money they had been saving for the end-of-year class field-trip and donate the funds to the Indian Reservation.
The students used their $2,800 fund to purchase diapers, formula, toilet paper, wipes, medicines, pet food, water jugs, and a surplus of food to lend a hand to their nearby community in need.
The class’s teacher, Daisy Barnard, told CNN, “I am very proud of my students, but I’m not surprised. This is a very generous and compassionate group of teens. They have been raised to think outside their own immediate lives and it shows in moments like this.”
