PERU – The Route 251 bridge was closed for over an hour after a head-on crash injured two. The Peru Police say as many as five vehicles were involved after a southbound vehicle reportedly drove head-on into a northbound vehicle around 6 PM, striking it and a number of cars behind it. The southbound vehicle reportedly came to rest 800 feet further south of the original crash. Two were taken from the congested scene with non-life threatening injuries. Peru emergency services were assisted by Illinois Valley Regional Dispatch-ValCom and assisted at the scene by Peru ESDA, LaSalle Police, Oglesby Police, LaSalle Ambulance, Oglesby Ambulance as well as Illinois Department of Transportation. The crash remains under investigation.
