DEPUE – A non-profit organization is still in DePue helping residents clean up after flooding in late May damaged many households. Team Rubicon, a veteran-led disaster response organization, has been assisting the village from their tent encampment adjacent to the fire station. On May 28th, a heavy rainfall event brought more than 3″ of rain to parts of Bureau County, causing flash flooding that overflowed a creek, sending upwards of 3 feet of water through the northwest part of DePue. MABAS, the Illinois Mutual Aid Box Alarm System, provided resources such as tents and equipment to help residents clean up safely. Any resident in DePue still needing assistance is asked to contact Team Rubicon.
