DEKALB- The DeKalb Police Department have opened a homicide investigation into the death of a man who spent nearly a month in the hospital after a June beating. Authorities say on June 16th 33-year-old Marcus Johnson was beaten by individuals in the 800 block of Ridge Drive. He was taken to a Rockford Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on July 12th. Currently, investigators are awaiting autopsy results and the DeKalb Police Department are treating the death as a homicide.
