IDPH reports 1,231 new COVID-19 cases

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,231 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, along with 18 additional deaths. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the state has had 172,655 total cases with 7,416 deaths. Area counties are currently seeing open outbreaks in five long-term care facilities: two in DeKalb County, two in LaSalle County, and one in Lee County. An outbreak is defined as open by the IDPH when the care facilities have had cases within the past 28 days.
