Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for August 4th:
At just nine months old, Meena Kumar was found in a basket on a college campus in Pune, India. She subsequently spent a year in an orphanage and was adopted by a couple in Mumbai before the family moved to California.
Over the last five years, Meena, now 14-years-old, has spent a significant amount of time at animal shelters. She’s now launched a campaign to raise money to help dogs find their forever homes and has already raised over $14,000.
“I donate all the money raised through this service to Muttville [Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco],” Meena said. “I strongly feel that these senior dogs deserve to live out their lives in dignity and comfort.”
Muttville specifically specializes in helping “senior dogs” find homes, which is a challenge in itself. Meena’s contributions are invaluable and she’s clearly become a strong force on the adoption front in her community.
