OTTAWA – The warming trend over the last couple of days will culminate in temperatures perhaps reaching the highest they have been all year. Temperatures are expected to soar into the upper 90’s today. The National Weather Service noted that the high temperature records for August 26th for both Chicago and Rockford may fall or at least be tied, as the record stands at 97 degrees. The low humidity will keep the heat indices at or below 100 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms late Thursday will spell some relief, and low temperatures are expected into the 50’s by the weekend.
