OTTAWA – Illinois Valley Community College is offering its Ottawa Center as a convenient location for students to complete coursework and participate in online instruction. To provide social distancing, Ottawa Center has 10 new computers with webcams spaced out over two rooms. Along with the camera and headphones, webcams feature a microphone to enable students to participate fully in live virtual classroom experiences via Zoom.
“To ensure safety, masks and temperature screenings are required to enter the building. All workstations are a minimum of 6 feet apart and keyboards and workspaces are sanitized after each use,” said Ottawa Center coordinator Jeannette Frahm.
Technical support is provided by Ottawa Center staff and remote assistance is available via the Learning Commons on main campus. With limited workspaces, Frahm encourages students to call (815) 224-0800 to schedule a block of time. Labs are open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Only current credit-seeking IVCC students can log in to Ottawa Center computers and Wi-Fi at the building located at 321 W. Main St in Ottawa.
