Rural barn destroyed in fire near Peru

PERU – A barn was destroyed in a Sunday morning fire near Peru. The Peru Fire Department was called around 11:30 AM to the 3500 block of Illinois Route 251, where the structure, reportedly full of hay, had flames showing. Multiple area departments responded to the scene, however, the barn was destroyed. A home on the property adjacent to the building did suffer some damage to the siding, according to Peru Fire Chief Jeff King.
