SPRINGFIELD – Lee and DeKalb Counties are among 34 counties statewide now at warning levels for the novel coronavirus disease. A county gets on the warning list when 2 or more of the state’s risk indicators are exceeded. Lee County logged 199 cases per 100,000 people, 4 times the state’s desired criteria, and 10.5% of covid tests have come back positive in Lee County, which is greater than the state’s eight percent threshold. The state says that while the reasons a county reaches a warning level can vary, some of the factors include gatherings in homes, parties, weddings, funerals, and bars and clubs, and cases among younger people, especially those in their 20s.
