Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for November 2nd:
After seeing how her 10-month-old daughter Scarlett took such a liking to her Cabbage Patch Kid doll “Chip,” Ivy Seibert, 24 of Romeoville, IL, had an idea for her Halloween costume.
She purchased a brown-hooded onesie and conjured up her “home economics skills,” as she puts it, and worked to hand-stitch the bow-tie with the outfit to make it come together.
“All in all, it took about four hours and countless needle pricks in total,” Seibert said. “I’m very proud of how it turned out.”
Scarlett was evidently happy with it too because she responded with “oh yeah” — the only words she can say at this time — upon seeing herself resemble Chip, according to Seibert.
Ivy and Scarlett still managed to have some Halloween fun despite societal restrictions on festivities.
“We went to a little family Halloween party at my mom’s house and she carried Chip around with her and everybody thought it was adorable.”
Needless to say, the resemblance Scarlett had to her best friend was pretty striking. Seibert added that it was definitely a silver-lining in what has been a crazy year.
“Out of this whole crazy first year of her life, it’ll definitely be a bright spot we remember and I know she’ll enjoy the pictures one day which we’ll keep in a safe place along with Chip,” Seibert concluded.
