IDPH confirms nearly 10,000 new COVID-19 cases

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health confirmed a record number of new COVID-19 cases on Thursday. 9,935 new cases were reported as well as 97 additional deaths, bringing the death toll since the start of the pandemic to over 10,000. 3 individuals from LaSalle County were included in Thursday’s death count that were previously reported by the county health department. The IDPH confirmed that as of Wednesday night, 3,594 individuals in the state were in the hospital with COVID with 755 in the ICU and 326 on ventilators.
