SPRINGFIELD – Over 10,000 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were announced Friday in Illinois, along with 49 additional deaths. The IDPH also reported that going forward, they will be reporting confirmed and probable cases combined. They define a confirmed case as laboratory confirmed with a molecular test, while probable cases have a positive antigen test or meets the clinical criteria and has contact with a positive case. If a probable case is later confirmed, however, it will only be counted once and the duplicate will be eliminated.
