Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for November 12th:
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen revealed that his grandmother died a day before the Bills played the Seattle Seahawks this past Sunday. To send their condolences, and do a bit of good too, “Bills Mafia,” as the Bills fans are known, came out in droves to raise money for Oishei Children’s Hospital.
Bills fans chipped in a total of $300,000 in the span of 72 hours, largely in donations of $17 — Allen’s jersey number.
Allen has been active in the Buffalo community since being drafted by the Bills in 2017. He was overwhelmed with gratitude upon hearing the news that Oishei, a place where he’s devoted his time, was given such an incredible financial boost.
“To know that people care and that so much good is coming out of a tough situation, it means the world to myself, it means the world to my family,” Allen said. “It just shows how this Bills community and this Buffalo community rally around each other, that’s what they’ve been known for and that’s what they’re still known for. I can’t thank everybody who supported and donated, I can’t thank them enough.”
