Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for February 15th:
The emergency staff at Rose Medical Center in Denver had an emotional sendoff for someone who has stuck by their side for the last eleven months.
Wynn, a service dog in training raised by Dr. Susan Ryan, has been comforting staff-members on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic in Denver.
“Seeing stuff and hearing stuff that you can’t unsee has an impact on you,” said Ryan, an emergency physician at Rose Medical Center. “That’s where the dogs come in. When you are in the presence of the dog and petting them you are taking a moment to ground yourself at that present time.”
Rose Medical Center served as a training ground for Wynn, as they’ve always expected him to be moved to a move advanced clinic in his route to becoming a service dog.
When that day finally came, the staff decided to throw Wynn a party to thank him for his loyalty and invaluable emotional support.
