IVCC announces nominee for state community college alumnus award

OGLESBY – Dr. Maureen Rebholz of LaSalle is Illinois Valley Community College’s 2021 nominee for the state’s top community college alumnus award. Rebholz was nominated for the Illinois Community College Trustees Association (ICCTA) Distinguished Alumnus Award by board chair Jane Goetz.
“Dr. Rebholz’ inspirational story took her from our nursing labs in the early 1980s to a leadership position at a nearby hospital to a seat on our board of trustees,” said Goetz.
“She has been a local leader in pain management, diabetes control and more recently COVID-19 education and prevention,” Goetz said, adding, “Throughout her illustrious career, she has championed IVCC’s mission as a medical professional, a parent of three students, an instructor and now as a trustee.”
Since 1994, Rebholz has delivered educational programs to employees as director of the Education, Nutrition and Diabetes Center at the former Illinois Valley Community Hospital – now St. Margaret’s Health-Peru.
In 2019, IVCC’s board selected Rebholz to fill an unexpired term. Along with board vice chair Everett Solon, Rebholz is running unopposed for a six-year term in the April 6 election.
Rebholz’s resume includes an RN (IVCC 1981), BSN, MSN, master’s in health services administration and doctorate in education.
For nearly 25 years, she has served as a liaison to the nursing advisory committee to enhance the college’s recruitment and standards.
“IVCC is the cornerstone of our communities – from nursing to the trades, and for preparing students to transfer to other colleges,” said Rebholz.
“Beginning as a student more than 40 years ago and culminating with a position of leadership, my connection with IVCC has had a profoundly enriching impact on my life and that of my family,” she said.
Nominees will be honored and statewide winners announced at the ICCTA’s Annual Awards Ceremony Friday, June 4 at the Marriott Bloomington-Normal Hotel and Conference Center.
