MENDOTA – A non-verbal man who was located in a field south of Mendota on Wednesday morning remains hospitalized. The Mendota Police Department say that a passer-by called them to an area near 7th Avenue and Cherry Street for a person wearing only socks and a pair of sweatpants. The man, said to be in his mid-twenties, was taken to OSF St. Paul Medical Center for observation after it was determined he was non-verbal and possibly needing medical attention. Mendota Police Sgt. Josh Sarver thanked the public for helping get the word out on Facebook that they needed assistance identifying the individual. The man was transferred late Wednesday to another medical facility after being identified by someone he had had previous contact with. No further information is expected to be released at this time.
