9-year-old girl’s act of kindness snowballs into a project geared towards helping seniors run errands

Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for April 9th:
A simple act of kindness from a 9-year-old girl named Hana Fatima at an Ontario grocery store last year has since snowballed into a huge volunteer project to help seniors and people with disabilities.
Just two days before Ontario’s initial lockdown last March, Fatima and her father, Tariq Syed, were grocery shopping when they took note of an elderly person struggling to unload their groceries.
“It made me think of my grandparents,” Fatima recalled. So, she pointed the woman out to her father and the two offered to help carry her purchases to her car.
After that, the good feeling they got motivated them to start The Good Neighbor Project, a volunteer delivery network that connects available, able-bodied individuals with people in need. The individuals aid in helping seniors with their grocery shopping or other errands.
So far, more than 6,000 volunteers have contributed almost 23,000 hours and helped over 8,600 seniors, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable individuals.
