PERU – Some Peru residents owe thousands in unpaid utility bills and officials are strongly encouraging them to pay their debt. Peru Alderman Jim Lukosus says the delinquent utility accounts rack up a total near $70,000 owed. Lukosus says a third of those on the delinquent list have not been taking the debt seriously or made an effort to create a payment plan with the city.
City Clerk Dave Bartley says all accounts on the list are notified monthly and residents needing assistance can contact the city or the Tri-County Opportunities Council.
