MENDOTA – The remaining 72 acres of ponds and other ground east of the now closed Del Monte facility will be owned by the city of Mendota by the end of the month. According to City Clerk Emily McConville, negotiations began last summer for the property. Del Monte, which sold the production facilities to Seneca Foods, will be giving the city $3.95 million as well. McConville said the city has no immediate plans for the property, but hopes they can find businesses interested in the ground with access to US Route 34 and the rail road.
