MINNEAPOLIS — Former Minneapolis police Officer Derek Chauvin has been sentenced to 22 and a half years for murder in the death of George Floyd.  Minnesota laws will mean he will have to serve a minimum of 15 years.

This came after Judge Peter Cahill denied a defense request for a new trial.  The 45-year-old Chauvin is still facing Federal charges for violating the civil rights of George Floyd.
