OTTAWA – The Ottawa Canal remains bone dry as officials mull over what to do next with the once algae-stricken re-watered section. Both the LaSalle Street and Columbus Street paths crossing beneath the bridges experienced flooding due to sump pump burn-outs as well as debris leaking beneath the retaining walls entering the sump stations. Officials drained the re-watered section to kill bacteria growth, but now Mayor Dan Aussem says they’re still waiting on further expert advice.
