County unemployment slightly down during July

 
LASALLE – County unemployment rates reduced during the month of July according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security. LaSalle County remains the highest in unemployment locally at 5.8%, but down compared to 6.5% last month. Bureau and Putnam County rates are slightly down as well at 4.9%. Statewide unemployment remained steady at 7.2%, still significantly less compared to last year at 12%. IDES data shows last year was the highest unemployment rate for the month of July since 1983, when it was 11.5%.
