LaSalle County Health Department offering Pfizer vaccine for children

 
OTTAWA – The LaSalle County Health Department will now offer the COVID-19 Pfizer Vaccine for kids. On Tuesday the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention endorsed the recommendation from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ that children 5 to 11 years old be vaccinated against COVID-19 with the Pfizer BioNTech pediatric vaccine. The vaccine will come in smaller doses of 10 micrograms, a third of the dose given for individuals 12 years and older. The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is administered as a series of two doses, 3 weeks apart, for eligible individuals. LaSalle County Health Department will begin offering the vaccine for children on a weekly basis, by appointment only.
