OTTAWA – Ten miles of southbound Interstate-39 will be closed on Thursday night. The closure is between Illinois 71 exit 51 from Oglesby, to Illinois 18 exit 41 through Lostant. The closure begins at 6:30 p.m. and will last overnight. The closure is for emergency repairs on the shoulder carrying southbound I-39 through a construction zone, where work is being done to repair the bridge over the Sandy Creek and the Norfolk Southern Railroad. Work is expected to be completed by 9 a.m. on Friday. The bridge repair work is scheduled to be completed later this season. Northbound I-39 will remain open and motorists should expect delays.
