CHICAGO RIDGE – A driver filling his vehicle with gas in Chicago Ridge on Monday reported to authorities that he was injured by a needle attached to the pump nozzle. Authorities say there was an unknown white powder in the hollow area behind the needle and there was an adhesive substance holding the entire assembly to the trigger of the gas nozzle. The Chicago Ridge Police Department and the Illinois State Police Crime Lab are analyzing the crude device for clues, but are asking anyone who finds a similar item to notify the police immediately. The man was transported to an area hospital for an evaluation for the finger injury and was asymptomatic for any exposure.
