STREATOR – Streator Mayor Jimmie Lansford announced he is resigning from office, effective December 31, citing health and personal reasons. Mayor Lansford has served Streator residents in an elected city office for 16 years. He was elected to the city council in 2005. Prior to being elected city office, Mayor Lansford served the Streator community for over 40 years in health care administration and banking. He moved to Streator after his service in the US Marine Corps and Army in Vietnam in the early 1960s. Under state law, the Streator City Council will need to appoint a replacement mayor to fill the vacancy until the next municipal election in 2023.
