COVID-19 Omicron variant likely culprit behind elevated pump prices

UNDATED – Winter weather and the COVID-19 omicron variant are the likely culprits behind a dip in demand for oil, according to the American Automobile Association. Continued growth in the price of crude oil has helped to elevate pump prices. Statewide, gas is almost a dollar more than a year ago, now averaging $3.45 per gallon. LaSalle County and Livingston counties holds the cheapest gas prices around with LaSalle at $3.40 cents and Livingston, $3.25. Putnam and Bureau County are the priciest locally at $3.44 per gallon.
