STREATOR – The Streator Fire Department quickly responded to a house fire on Friday that limited damage to a home. According to officials, they were called to the 200 block of West Broadway Street for a report of a house fire just after 7:30 am. Firefighters responded in minutes’ time and found smoke coming from the rear of the home. Once inside, firefighters discovered the blaze in the kitchen. Firefighters say the resident had escaped the home and had the scene under control in less than five minutes. The department cleared the scene just after 8 am. A total of 12 firefighters responded. The home suffered minor fire and water damage to the kitchen and smoke damage throughout the home. The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation but is not deemed suspicious in nature.
