27 vehicles damaged after I-39 pileup, Interstate remains closed

MINONK – All lanes of I-39 between Normal and Minonk are closed Friday morning after a Thursday afternoon pile-up damaged nearly 30 vehicles. The Illinois State Police say nineteen tractor trailers and nine passenger vehicles were damaged after a series of crashes triggered the pileup during a fast moving snow storm that had white out conditions at times across much of north central Illinois. No injuries were reported. Authorities say I-39 will not be re-opened to traffic until at least noon on Friday.
