SYCAMORE – The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office recently took a report from a resident who reported that an individual called them, purporting to be a deputy. This con artist allegedly informed the resident that they owed money and if they didn’t pay them within the hour, there would be an outstanding arrest warrant. Authorities are reminding everyone that either the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, nor any other law enforcement agency will ever call you and discuss an outstanding warrant that requires you to pay with Green Dot Cards, iTunes gift cards, Google Pay cards, or any type of gift cards that are provided over the phone. If you have ANY doubts, hang up and contact your local law enforcement agency.
