Looking back – 11 years after Streator Tornado
STREATOR – It has been thirteen years since 17 people were injured and over 100 buildings damaged in Streator after a tornado struck the city around 9 PM on June 5th 2010. The supercell thunderstorms spawned the EF-2 that would eventually move into the Eagle Pass subdivision, where roofs were removed and trees toppled. The one quarter mile swath of destruction went from west to east across Streator south of Route 18, damaging Engle Lane Theater and structures near the Southside Athletic Park. The storm left 1800 without power that night, with 35 buildings taking heavy damage.
