PERU – The city of Peru has sworn in its latest police chief, the first woman ever to take the role in LaSalle County. In a packed Peru City Council meeting on Monday night, Deputy Chief of Police Sarah Raymond was sworn in as police chief, replacing retired Chief Robert Pyszka. Chief Sarah Raymond says she plans to create succession within the police department during her first year in the position.
Raymond says she hopes to encourage and see more women taking on leadership roles in the community.
