SPRINGFIELD – A new law to help make community events safer for children starts in the new year. An Illinois Senate Bill passed last spring will prohibit convicted child sex offenders from working at county fairs, amusement companies, or carnivals when people under 18 are present. This will expand regulations already in place that prohibits offenders from working around day care centers, schools, or after and before school programs or services.
