STREATOR – A Streator woman’s proposal for butterfly gardens around town will get a recommendation by the city’s park board for council to approve. Nina Vaughn, butterfly enthusiast pitched her plan for pollinator gardens or Monarch Way Ways Stations in bare lots around town at Streator’s Park Board meeting
. The park board suggested areas of Marilla Park to be designated for pollinator gardens with the addition of a buckwheat field. Vaughn says the stations can be registered for signage by the Monarch Watch Organization. She says Monarch’s are a passion of hers and plans on having over 40 volunteers tend to the gardens.
